overview.
Currently building BioGrace as part of a 6-week design challenge through the Michigan Ross Business+Tech Innovation Jam.
Working as Lead UX/UI Designer on a team of six — one project manager, two business analysts, and three designers — to tackle a real-world problem at the intersection of healthcare and technology.

problem.
Older adults managing multiple prescriptions often struggle to keep track of complex regimens, timing, and refill schedules. Communication gaps between patients, caregivers, and providers can lead to missed doses, confusion, and poor adherence.
Users also lack a centralized, intuitive system that consolidates medication information, explains each medication’s purpose in plain language, and provides timely reminders. This lack of a user-friendly solution leads to confusion and mismanagement, diverting healthcare providers’ attention from meaningful patient interactions.
A clearer, integrated tool could reduce this burden and support more effective, confident care.
solution.
BioGrace simplifies medication management through an AI-powered tool that allows patients and caregivers to:
Scan medication labels for quick, accurate input
Chat with an AI assistant trained on their personal medication data for reliable suggestions
Receive adaptable and customizable notifications tailored to individual routines
Key Features
Smart scheduling
Priority tagging for each medication
Chatbot integration for medication insights
Centralized dashboard for tracking progress
Exportable medication reports
SMS reminders for secondary users
process (part 1).
We started by defining user personas — Linda, a caregiver managing her husband’s dementia, and Marcus, a patient with chronic illnesses juggling multiple prescriptions.
Surveying 50+ adults aged 40–70 confirmed the need: 83% relied on memory or paper notes, 67% felt overwhelmed managing their regimens, and 63% forgot a dose at least 1x week.
A competitive analysis of 4 leading medication tracking apps (MediSafe, MyTherapy, Mango Health) revealed poor accessibility, confusing layouts, and weak caregiver support.
These insights drove our design goals: build for clarity, empathy, and shared control — not just compliance.
process (part 2).
Using our research, we mapped nine end-to-end user flows around three core actions:
Add medications – manually or by scanning a label for accurate input
Set reminders and priorities – flexible scheduling with clear visual tags
Onboard as a caregiver – sync contact info to enable SMS reminders and confirmations without requiring an app download
From these flows, the PM and I developed a comprehensive PRD detailing feature requirements, success metrics, and functional priorities. It became our source of truth, connecting research insights to technical feasibility and keeping design and business decisions tightly aligned.
We then moved into low-fidelity wireframes focused on:
Clarity and accessibility through large touch targets and simple layouts
Reducing cognitive load for older adults and caregivers
process (part 3).
Once the core flows were validated, I shifted to building a launch-ready prototype using Figma Make.
This stage involved:
Creating a design system for export to Figma Make, ensuring consistent global styling and scalable CSS
Learning Figma Make’s logic and structure to translate static designs into responsive, interactive screens
Building a live prototype — from chatbot interactions to notification triggers — without external code
prototype.
Try it out yourself! If there are any bugs, please let me know.
takeaways
Designing BioGrace taught me how to balance empathy, technology, and business strategy to create something genuinely helpful.
Learned that empathy is at the heart of usability and should guide every design decision
Translated real user pain points into simple systems that reduce confusion, not add to it
Leveraged AI throughout my workflow—from ideation to prototyping—to accelerate exploration and decision-making
Collaborated with business analysts to connect design with long-term sustainability and explore early pricing models
Note: This is an early version of BioGrace. I’ll continue expanding on the full design process and outcomes after the hackathon concludes.
